SoftBank Group in Talks to Invest 25 Billion USD in OpenAI
SoftBank Group Corp. is currently engaged in discussions to invest as much as 25 billion USD in OpenAI. This potential investment could position SoftBank as the largest backer of the AI startup, according to reports from the Financial Times.
The two companies are collaborating on a joint venture known as Project Stargate in Texas. The initiative aims to deploy a total of 100 billion USD for the construction of data centers and other essential AI infrastructure.
Both companies have expressed an ambition to raise a staggering 500 billion USD within four years. The leaders of the respective companies, Masayoshi Son of SoftBank and Sam Altman of OpenAI, have a long-standing relationship rooted in their mutual interest in advancing AI technology.
