Small Aircraft Crashes into Potomac River Grounding Flights at DCA
At least one aircraft crashed Wednesday evening over the Potomac River near Ronald Reagan International Airport outside Washington, D.C., officials reported, leading to a grounding of all flights at the airport.
The District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department shared on social media that a small aircraft went down in the Potomac River in the "vicinity" of the airport.
Following the incident, the airport announced on X that all takeoffs and landings at DCA had been halted.
"Emergency personnel are responding to an aircraft incident on the airfield. The terminal remains open," the airport stated.
