Schumer Photographed with Chinese Official Who Denies Uyghur Genocide

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has faced criticism for sharing a stage with Chinese Consul General Chen Li, who denies the genocide of the Uyghur population, raising concerns about U.S.-China relations.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has been photographed several times this month sharing a stage with Chen Li, the Chinese Consul General in New York, who has publicly denied China's alleged genocide against the Uyghur population.
Chen has posted multiple photos of himself with Schumer on his X profile, including his participation in two Chinese parades. He expressed his excitement over joining the Brooklyn Lantern Festival Parade, stating, "Thrilled to join thousands at the [Brooklyn] Lantern Festival Parade!" accompanied by a photo with Schumer.
In another post, Chen mentioned being glad to join the 27th NYC Lunar New Year Parade, celebrating friendships and cultural performances.
Chen has previously denied allegations of genocide against the Uyghurs, which have garnered condemnation from global entities like the United Nations. He questioned the validity of the genocide claims made by former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, referring to them as fabricated reports by anti-China individuals.
Despite claims that "re-education camps" in Xinjiang are voluntary, leaked documents reveal a contrasting reality. An expert on U.S.-China relations criticized elected officials for engaging publicly with CCP representatives, arguing it sends mixed messages about countering the party's influence.
Schumer has faced past criticism for similar associations, including ties with Chen's predecessor, Huang Ping, who also denied the Uyghur genocide and promoted CCP propaganda before departing his role earlier this year.
In response to inquiries, Fox News Digital reached out to Schumer's office and the Chinese consulate for their comments.
