Saudi Arabia Rejects US Proposal for Gaza Ownership and Displacement of Palestinians
Saudi Arabia swiftly pushed back against President Donald Trump's proposal that the United States take over Gaza, a suggestion that would involve permanently removing the Palestinian territory's 2.2 million residents.
Riyadh stated it would not establish diplomatic relations with Israel -- a long-term goal of Washington -- without the establishment of a Palestinian state and rejected the idea of displacing Palestinians from the enclave.
During a news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump proposed that the United States take a "long-term ownership position" over Gaza and move its residents to land in another country.
Hamas leaders condemned Trump's statements and said Palestinians in the enclave oppose displacement.
