Plane crash at Reagan National Airport leads to flight suspension and emergency response
All flights at Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Virginia, were halted on Wednesday night following a collision involving a military Black Hawk helicopter and a regional jet, as confirmed by the White House.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that President Donald Trump is aware of the incident, adding that it "tragically appears a military helicopter collided with a regional jet."
The DC Fire and EMS Department reported on X that a small aircraft went down in the vicinity of the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport, and that fireboats were dispatched to the scene.
The Washington D.C. Police Department also issued a statement on X, indicating that they were responding to an apparent air crash in the Potomac River, with multiple agencies involved in the response.
Footage from the scene shows a large number of emergency crews attending to the situation. One video, which was captured from the Webcam at the Kennedy Center, appeared to show a mid-air explosion near the Potomac River.
