Cooler Weather and Rain Expected in the Metro Area

It was slightly cooler than Monday in the metro, topping out in the low 50s. Besides a stray drizzle, many of us stayed dry through the morning. Rain chances increase this evening and showers will continue through Wednesday morning. If you want to go on a walk tonight, plan on bringing a rain jacket.
Due to the showers and clouds tonight, lows will stay mild. Most of us will wake up in the low 40s.
Wednesday will be the opposite of Tuesday, starting with showers and ending dry. Expect a soggy morning commute with on and off showers through lunchtime. By the afternoon, rain chances decrease and we could see some sun breaks before nightfall. Highs will be in the low 50s.
Tonight through Wednesday, we're expecting another ~0.50'' of rainfall. Slightly higher totals are possible along the coast.
Tomorrow morning will be windy as well due to an offshore pressure gradient. Gusts could be as strong as 25-35 mph in the metro and hills. The coast could see gusts as strong as 45 mph. Gusts will subside by the afternoon.
Thursday will be dry and mild with a mixture of sun and clouds. High temperatures remain in the 50s. Showers return Friday afternoon and last into the weekend.
An atmospheric river or "Pineapple Express" will bring another round of rain to the Northwest this weekend. The wettest day will likely be Sunday. Highs will stay in the mid-50s through next week.
Any precipitation that falls this week will be all-rain; no winter weather is expected for the lowlands due to temperatures being well above freezing.
Even though we've had some rainy days recently, we are still about an inch below where we should be for this point in February in the metro. The much-needed moisture will help boost our monthly rain totals closer to normal and also allow rivers and streams to rise slightly. We aren't expecting any flooding concerns.
