Eating Disorders Care Declared Emergency by MPs
Lives are being lost and families torn apart due to "woefully inadequate care" for individuals suffering from eating disorders, according to a group of MPs.
The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Eating Disorders has issued a report indicating that the "alarming" rise in disorders such as anorexia and bulimia over the past decade has now escalated to an "emergency".
There is an urgent need for greater awareness regarding the various types of eating disorders and their impact on males and females of all ages and ethnicities.
NHS England acknowledged that services were under extreme pressure but stated that all mental health trusts now provide early help for teenagers and young people.
