Islington Avenue Reopens After Impaired Driving Incident and Hydro Repairs

Islington Avenue has reopened after being closed for repairs due to a crash involving a hydro pole by a driver charged with impaired driving. No injuries or power outages were reported.
Islington Avenue was fully reopened Wednesday night after live wires on the road closed a portion of the west-end street on Tuesday.
A driver has been arrested after a crash knocked over a hydro pole and shut down a portion of Islington Avenue near Rathburn Road in Etobicoke.
The incident happened around 2:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Toronto police said in a post on X.
No injuries were reported but the driver, a woman in her 20s, was charged with impaired driving.
There were live wires on the road and Islington Avenue was closed between Rathburn Road and Great Oak Drive for "an extended period of time" so Toronto Hydro could repair the pole.
Islington Avenue was fully reopened by Wednesday night, the city said.
No power outages have been reported in the area.
The 37 Islington and 937 Islington Express buses saw delays of around 25 minutes both ways while the routes detoured on Cordova Avenue, Burnhamthorpe Road, Kipling Avenue and Rathburn Road, according to the TTC.
