Bay of Fires Named Best Australian Beach for 2025
Tasmania's Bay of Fires has been recognised as the Best Australian Beach for 2025, showcasing the region's unique landscapes and boosting tourism.
Tasmania's Bay of Fires has been named Best Australian Beach for 2025 in the official list released by Tourism Australia.
The Best Australian Beaches list is compiled each year by beach expert Brad Farmer AM, following a comprehensive study of Australia's coastline and surrounding islands. Up to 12,000 beaches were surveyed for this year's list, including some in Tasmania.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff said this recognition is another testament to our unique and diverse natural landscapes and the strength of our regional tourism offerings.
"Australia is globally renowned among international travellers for our beaches, so to have Tasmania on the top of this list is a huge win," Premier Rockliff said.
"Every corner of the State has been recognised for outstanding tourism experiences over the past year, including Launceston and the Tamar Valley being named best region in the world, Hobart listed on Frommer's Best Places to Go in 2025, and Devonport named Australia's top Tourism Town.
"Now, Tasmania has also claimed the top spot of the Best Australian Beach, another reminder for visitors to explore each region."
The recognition comes after the award-winning wukalina Walk, operating in the Bay of Fires, was named as one of the World's Greatest Places by renowned international publication TIME magazine in 2024.
Tasmania being front-and-centre in Tourism Australia's Best Australian Beaches list will help raise our profile as a unique Australian destination among international travellers.
"Growing international visitation is an important part of the 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future," Premier Rockliff said.
"Our hospitality and tourism industry injects $5.5 billion of direct visitor expenditure into our economy, and we are backing in this sector, the operators, small businesses and the tens of thousands of Tasmanians it employs."
